Blue Cross reimburses $150 of monies paid for a gym membership, and I just found the form in cleaning my cube. Deadline for last year: March 31. Perfect; there's still time to submit the form for last year. I need receipts for how much I've paid, and since I've done automatic deduction, I wasn't sure if I could use bank statements (or whether I'd want to use bank statements. But that's another issue), so I posted a question on the bulletin board at work*.

The response has been interesting. Six women have given me information about the process, one woman asked where she could find the form, and one man asked about which gyms get reimbursement. So I've been wondering: does this completely non-scientific response imply that
  1. women have more gym memberships
  2. women are more likely to know about the reimbursement
  3. women are more likely to use the reimbursement
  4. women are more likely to respond to questions on the bulletin board
  5. women are more likely to read the bulletin board
  6. other

* Am I the only one who still thinks of a physical bulletin board first?

** Whee! I found out how to do different kinds of ordered lists!

Since I just asked for o one myself, I can tell you that if you go to HW's web site, there is a form to request a receipt specifically for this BCBS program.

$150 is such crap, but it's more than nothing, at leasy.

Thank you! I hadn't checked the HW site...

Yeah, $150 doesn't even come close, but since I'm getting the gym membership anyway, it's sorta like free money. Kinda.

it's a nice steak dinner (or 4) to reward oneself for going to the gym ;)

*grin*

What a nice thought.

Or it could be yarn for a sweater...

sweater for the steak! nobody wants $150 worth of cold steak, after all.

But I don't want the steak to sweat, I want it to broil.

(And if I had a deep freeze, I might just take that $150 worth of cold steak. Though given the price of steak, perhaps I wouldn't need another freezer. :-( )

I have a gym membership, and it never occurred to me to seek reimbursement. I'm going to call BC/BS today to find out if my policy has this. I called them about chiropractic: they don't cover the first $250 but 80% of everything thereafter.

Nope, no gym membership reimbursement for me. I guess I'm cooking my own steaks!
