Decided: it's unlikely I'll go to a midday gym class again. It's a rush to get there, the class is shorter, there's a rush for the showers, I don't get to cool down sufficiently. And I have to work later to make a full day. It's much better for me to go before (well, it could happen someday) or after work. At least the class was good.

Going this noon let me experience the joys of walking in ice pellets, though, and I got to appreciate the water-proofiness of my new workboots. Plus I got to see the long mechanical brusher they use to clear some of the sidewalks around here, which looked really cool.

See, I wasn't sure if Ice Weasels ate, or... produced... ice pellets.

The only reason I've started getting to classes is due to a friend who's newly-joined, and she's gotten me to try some.
I'm lucky in that I can leave work early enough to miss the worst of the post-work rush. Theoretically, I can get out of the house early enough to go to the gym first, but somehow it never seems to happen. Not sure why.

Ice pellets: probably both :)

What keeps me gymming in the morning is that the T from Davis at 6:50 is sooo much less obnoxious than the T from Davis at 7:50. The days I choose to go in later, I end up standing, squished, and unable to read the paper. The trip not only takes longer, it feels much longer and I get to work feeling worse. Its enough to motivate me. Plus, working out keeps me from killing people.

As it turns out, my snow emergency route (101 bus to Sullivan and in on the Orange line) is already hella crowded at 6:30, so there's less of an incentive.

Ice pellets: rather self-sustaining, then.

I tend to be T'ing between 8 and 9 am, and the squishage varies a fair bit in that range. I'm standing, definitely, but being a sardine or being able to crochet makes a difference. My biggest problem with the commute these days, though, is the overheating. It's a nuisance to schlepp my coat once I'm on the T, so I overheat. Sigh.

If the gym were on my route to work, I suspect it would be a lot more probable. Though I seem to have a harder time getting out of the house early than when I was driving to work. Something about really having to be dressed for the weather, or having stuff packed compactly, or something, seems to keep me at home longer in the mornings.
