  • smells of horse (the mounted police were out today) and frying onions
  • chowder is only on Fridays, alternating fish and corn (note to self: remember to go on Fridays)
  • six ladies in red hats; I wonder what fun they were up to
  • touching the small fuzzy buds (will they last the winter?) of a tree that was wrapped in strings of white lights
  • I'm glad to have comfortable tights, but they keep trying to have greater acquaintance with my knees when I walk any distance
  • it's warm out, a distinct contrast to the last couple of days
  • faster to walk than wait for the T, and much nicer to be outside, even though I had to carry my coat
  • Frog Pond as skating rink includes a low wall around the ice

I *heard* the horses from a 2nd floor conference room at One Winter St. Weird.

Wow.

I saw two mounties, and saw/smelled evidence of at least a couple more...

Was there an occasion? Just to get a jump on all the shoppers this time of year?

I didn't notice anything special going on, but I may have been too late/too early. And I hope the mounties weren't going to jump on all the shoppers...

Some days around now (and in mid-summer tourist season) you *need* a horse to move around. Wish they could put diapers on them, tho.

Ah, proof of a New England native

Uh...[personal profile] magid? It's 40 degrees. Only we cold-climate natives consider this "warm."

Ah, yes, a balmy 40. I figure it's warm if I take my coat off while walking. Right? *grin*

(Which means that this same weather 6 weeks ago was cold, but after the great freeze of the last couple of days, it's warm.)

I'm from Panamá, and I think it's warm out.

Well, not frying the horse I was smelling, anyway.

Um, that doesn't sound comfortable.

Well, they fit comfortably (read: without a fight to get them on), and they're fine unless I'm walking distances briskly. Which is the best I've had for tights in a long time.

well, it felt warm this morning when leaving the house, but it was downright cold late afternoon when i'd lost one of my mittens :(

Poor little kitten. Have you found your mitten?
(or at least acquired alternate handgear?)

no :(

but i have driving gloves which while ugly and not-as-warm will still keep the chill off of my hands, and that's all i need for now. i can buy some more tonight.
(i have to wear children's gloves, so i'm fussy.)

Children's gloves might make it harder to find warm ones, but the options for silly gloves... ooh!

i find them warm enough. my hands are tiny and fit inside my sleeves anyway :)

i really don't like bulky gloves, since i then can't move my fingers. i'd rather the children's gloves and pockets. i mean, i'm not playing in the snow or anything, so it's more protection than warmth. that's what cars are for!

But there's always the possibility of a snowball fight, especially if a drive north or west is involved, and you wouldn't want to be inadequately armed ;-)

Some of the silly gloves must be with color, rather than bulk...
Hm....
