The Method Chorollaries
Dec. 7th, 2004 01:29 pmI went to the MIT Chorallaries concert this weekend. First up was the guest group, Berklee College of Music's The Method, which is a 9-guy group that's very impressive, especially considering it's only their second year. They sang a variety of music, including some jazz (Chick Corea, others) and some rock, and it was all great. I hope they continue (and record a CD).
I wish the Chorollaries were as good, but they weren't. Except for one singer, none of the leads had enough power to balance out the rest of the group. And they just didn't seem to have much energy, either. I think maybe they spent it on the long, on-going skit, which was only mildly entertaining. I was a bit disappointed, both because of the contrast to The Method, and because I've heard them in previous years, and they've been better. Not that it was a horrible concert; other than the balance issues, the music was fairly solid, just not exciting.
