A list I'm on just offered the opportunity to be a community representative to the biosafety committee of a local company.

"The primary responsibility is to evaluate/review biohazard control programs and procedures at [local company] to make sure we are controlling risk to the public as well as the environment."

It meets once a year, for an hour or two. What sort of questions would you have, other than making sure they have a plan for reasonable contingencies that sound somewhat feasible?

If someone in or near the company's facilities suspects a problem, how do they know what to do?

Is the company properly connected to the local/state/federal authorities so that the know what to expect and/or do?

Thank you. I've said I'd be interested, so hopefully I'll have the chance to see what they've done already, and whether it seems reasonable.
