Light

I was standing in the kitchen cooking last night, noticing it was already dark, at only 6:30. I mean, I knew it would be, because Shabbat times have shifted, but somehow it hadn't quite meshed with my weekday timing. I was thinking it was hard to get myself motivated to go out when it's already dark, a holdover from the summer, when it's dark so much later. Sometime in the winter, though, that changes, and by the spring and the clock change then, I start to feel almost exposed, walking around in the light of the evening, rather than wrapped in the cloak of darkness. If only I could shift attitudes earlier...

I know what you mean, though I've noticed it in a different way -- all of the sudden I get the feeling that I have to hurry up and get my work done more quickly in the afternoons because the light's gone by 7:00 now. If I'm still typing after it gets dark, I tend to feel like I'm dawdling and get frustrated with myself.
