There's a brand new park in Boston, the South Boston Maritime Park, at Northern Avenue at D Street across from Fish Pier. This article describes some of the neat nautical-themed features. Note to self: go check it out.

The people who had been in the hospital both came home, within hours of each other. (Just like they went in within hours of each other. Odd.)

Waiting for a call that should come "soon" can be frustrating. Extremely frustrating. Did I mention frustrating?

No wonder my arm hurt yesterday: I've used over 36 yards of tape in about a day of taping art to manuscript. Did I mention waiting, and frustration?

I must must must do laundry tonight, to ensure that I have clothes for Monday's wedding. Other things to do while waiting for the phone to ring: cook whatever produce is in the farm share, transplant herbs, make preserved lemons. Porch note: I currently have a dozen small green tomatoes!

Good Boggle words from the lunchtime games: lammed, littler, trundles, tingles, election, ingles.

Are you really looking for things to do? I have lots of suggestions, depending on what you like (walks/museums/shop (yeah, I know that's unlikely), etc).

Yes, a few suggestions would be handy if you have some ideas. I like walking around, and interesting architecture and techie things.

I think I have my own ideas about shops though.

First thought: the MIT Museum. It's interesting, but small enough to not be overwhelming.

Right around the corner from that is the Stata Center, which has... interesting architecture, to say the least. I keep thinking of it as a couple of buildings that tried to teleport into the same place at the same time.

For more classical architecture, you could visit Harvard Yard, though I don't think non-students are allowed inside. If you go, check out Memorial Hall on the north side of the Yard.

I don't know the best place to see it, but the Zakim Bridge is both interesting and beautiful.

Downtown Boston has the Freedom Trail, which is a pleasant walk with historic sites along the way.

The Museum of Science has a bunch of cool stuff, including an area that doesn't require paying admission (near the IMAX theater)(with a sculpture with moving parts, musical steps, and interesting polarized plastic stuff).

Oh, and the Public Gardens (next to Boston Common) are nice, plus there are swan boats if you want a ride.

Eek, another William H. Gates building! (The new Computer Lab in Cambridge is one)

I'm afraid to say I've been to most of those places already, but maybe I'll try and find said building.

The Stata Center is on this map of MIT. (I love their map; so easily to navigate.) Almost next to it is a building that is a 30-60-90 triangle.

Hm. Other touristy thoughts (so hard to know what you've seen!).... perhaps the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum (It has a lovely atrium)? Or the Mapparium (I admit I've not been, but I keep wanting to go. Out-of-date map by now, but still cool.)?

Hah. Had I been reading your journal all along, I would've known all the things you've already seen. Ah, well.

Other possibilities: Harvard's glass flowers, Revere Beach (on the T's Blue Line) (not a top-class beach, but still a beach, if that's of interest), the Forest Hills Cemetery (not just a nice park with dead people monuments, but modern sculpture and other installations as well; on the Orange Line, too), walk along the Boston harbor or from the Kennedy library to Castle Island.

Now that I'll have some time, I'll put the Mapparium higher on the list.
