I saw this sentence yesterday, and it took me a while to realize what the writer had intended, which is not nearly as giggle-worthy.

"Hallways and bathrooms were painted on the classroom floors"

Ah, the joys of an ambiguous language.

I'm not sure what the writer intended. Did he mean that the words were painted on the floors? Schools are bad enough without the kids pissing all over the classroom floor!

The writer was listing improvements made recently in a building that has classrooms on some stories, and performance space on other stories.

My first image was of a technical drawing painted on the floor of the classroom....

See, my first impression was of a one-room schoolhouse that couldn't afford an outhouse, so they had the hallways and bathrooms painted on the floor, perhaps in a corner where students could discreetly relieve themselves.

*giggle*

Alas, there aren't so many one-room schoolhouses out there any more.

I remember reading something about a town with a one-room schoolhouse that the town wanted to keep running, but to do so, had to fit it out with a handicapped-accessible bathroom to meet statutes, though there weren't any people at the school who needed this accommodation. There wasn't room in the building, so they constructed a maze of covered ramps and walkways to the one accessible bathroom in the town hall...

Not so much...
typos are something that I can ignore if I choose, while this takes a particular talent to come up with :-).
