  • two Gilfeather turnips or rutabagas (I chose rutabagas)
  • a bunch of greens (I chose collards over non-lacinato kale)
  • three pounds of carrots
  • a pound and a quarter of beets (I chose golden)
  • a pound of yellow onions (ie, one large)
  • three dried hot peppers
  • a third of a pound of mixed salad greens
  • a 26-ounce jar of Real Pickles dill pickles
  • a bag of popcorn (one pound, maybe?)
  • an 11-ounce bag of fresh mozzarella by Fiore Di Nonno (any takers?)
  • a dozen eggs

Yesterday, I was planning to go out for Shabbat dinner. Today, I woke up sick, and while I'm definitely better than I was this morning, I canceled plans to avoid being a plague vector (the particular down side is missing seeing an out-of-town friend, too). So the food I'd made for lunch will be for a solo dinner too: a salad of kolrabi and pink grapefruit with a chipotle mustard dressing and black pepper; savory tapioca pudding with caramelized red onions and salt (I think I may be starting a tapioca phase; next is to get to one of the supermarkets that has non-quick tapioca); vinaigrette salad with cubed boiled potatoes, rutabagas, and beets, plus chopped up pickled carrots, green peppers, cucumbers, and garlic scapes, plus lots of vinegar from the fridge pickles Breedingimperfection had given me. Of course, I haven't managed any food yet today, so I'm not sure whether it'll just be plain bread tonight... Wish me luck :-)
