Today's spam subject line of the day: Ultra Fresh Email Address Lists
You wouldn't want any of those stale or moldy email addresses, oh no...

Noticed this morning: the morning glories are making seeds.

Phrase of the day: "sculpture in time", used to describe Jewish holidays and festivals.

I have a card for prix fixe dinners at the Doubletree Suites in Waltham, for dinners starting before 6 pm. Does anyone want it?

It's that time of year again: time to for Hillel to get funding through the suggested purchase of tickets for high holiday services (not for undergrads, though); and for renewing support for the eruv (which has restructured their suggested donations for people with kids, who would theoretically use it 'more' (whatever that means), to pay more than adults, and families with more than one income to pay more than those with one, along with an option to volunteer time instead of money); and for Ma'ayan brochures to appear in my mail box as well. Ah, Elul z'man.

What sort of card? (Not that I'm likely to go to Waltham. Just curious.)

Er, on a bit of heavy cardstock? Not sure what you're asking.

It doesn't seem to be for a limited number of meals or anything, but there's a phone number on it, so presumably they'd have more info.

Is it a card that gets you free dinners? Discounted dinners? Is it a card that just advertises their prix fixe meal? So, i guess my question should have been: What does the card do?

The card lies flat on the table, except when folded. ;-)

The impression is that it gives a discounted prix fixe meal when coming in a bit early (pre-theater). Not free, though.

Speaking of which, if you're interested in classical music, there are free noontime concerts at Copley on Thursdays through September (a guitar duo, someone on piano, a classical orchestra, and a family quintet).

It's noon right now, but I think I'll probably be spending most of September making up time from August, since I imagine I might want to take a day off sometime when my dad is here in October. So no noontime concerts for me.

It is noon right now, but it's not Thursday.

Or perhaps you crossed the international date line early, in a flash of speed late last night, wanting to avoid any barriers to the rest of the week?

(It was strange hearing NPR discuss the hot topic of the Barrier, meaning a security fence being built in Israel, of course.)

The latest spam software seems to randomly generate "sender" names using some sort of stock list plus dictionary words. So far today, I've gotten missives from "Ingrid Garland", "Rudy Moody", "Vilma Calderon", and "Jenny von Underpants"!

Jenny von Underpants

Captain Underpants' sister? Aunt?
Definitely not a Wicked Wedgie Woman :-).
