Scallion pancake lust

I stopped at the Butcherie this morning, planning to get a couple of things for Shabbat, including scallion pancakes. I'd promised myself scallion pancakes since seeing/smelling them at All Asia Cafe. I go in, and they are not in the refrigerator case. I ask, and am told that they're not making them until after Passover, in a tone that made it sound like this was obvious, something I should know, that apparently they stop making anything with flour, etc, in it in their kitchens 2 MONTHS before Passover. Feh. And there isn't time this afternoon to go back to Brookline (to one of the Chinese restaurants), even if I wanted to make a second trip in one day.
My scallion pancake desires remain unslaked.

I saw on the news that Lynne Thigpen died. She was only 54... She was wonderful in Where in the World Is Carmen San Diego?.

In getting groceries last night, I found that Market Basket in Union Square is remodeling. It's a bit disconcerting to find things in different places. I think they're getting more display space out of it, plus it looks a lot more up-to-date (or, at least, I can tell it will when they're done). There's no indication that they'll stop using sawdust on the floors, though.

Bright, clear, cold morning, making sure that yesterday's snow is firmly in place before the predicted thaw. I'm ready to not have to shovel for a while.
