I've discovered my true calling: I am the Lunch Fairy.

Monday, I brought lunch to a friend downtown (flatbreads with meatballs in tomato-onion sauce, followed by ginger and chocolate).
Tuesday, I brought (most of) lunch to a friend in Providence (goat cheese and tomato sandwiches (flatbread again) with oregano and black pepper, followed by cranberry-rhubarb-ginger jam on... flatbread).
Today, I'm bringing lunch to a friend in Lowell (likely to be tuna or egg salad sandwiches on flatbreads...).

I've been in a mood to make flatbreads, which are quick to make and yummy. Also split well for (largeish) sandwiches, too. (I need to get more flour, though.)

The rest of the week does not have a fixed menu yet, but I do have plans for lunch with friends both days.

[I realize I did not mention that I am on vacation until the end of the year (use-it-or-lose-it vacation policy where I work). Thus the ability to become the Lunch Fairy this week (and possibly the week after, if there is demand for the Lunch Fairy's services).

I think other people manage not to cook every day they're on vacation. Sometime I should try that.]

I suppose it depends on how much/often you cook while on a regular schedule - one of the thigns I like about having vacation time is that I can, if I choose, spend more time on preparing my next meal, or baking something (which I rarely do), or . . .

I cook a fair bit when not vacationing. So far, I haven't made anything extremely new and exciting, so it hasn't felt too adventurous yet. (Perhaps I'll get around to that egg nog bread pudding idea this week, now that I've gotten more egg nog.)

OTOH, I have been glad to have the chance to see people, spend time with them, and my bringing lunch means that no one else needs to deal with the vagaries of my eating disorder (as Cthulhia puts it :-). Plus, I enjoy making food for people I care about.

Yes -- vacation is when you can try the more elaborate, time-consuming, or experimental dishes. It's fun!

Oh, hey (just remembered) - can we go over some stuff about next week? Might be needful. (Please don't stress, it shouldn't be dangerous topics)

Fine with me; I've already had calls from Bobby and Jeff, trying to arrange schedules. I figure I'll likely be out in Worcester some day next week, with Jeff here for a couple of days. Haven't talked with anyone about that, though.
