VISL (Very Interesting Subject Line) here
Oct. 4th, 2002 09:59 amLast night, a quick sushi picnic near Burdick's. Yum, salmon maki.
A stop at Cardullo's, armed with the name of the kosher balsamic vinegar I'd gotten there a few months ago and couldn't find again. It still wasn't there, but people were extremely helpful, looking it up in the catalog, planning to check with the distributor, stuff like that. In the end, I gave the woman (one of the owners?) my card, since she said she'd call when the cases she'd just ordered (now in a warehouse in Michigan) arrived. Very cool. I suspect I'll buy a couple of bottles then... and tell some kosher friends that it's there, too.
I was virtuous in depositing a check promptly, then ended up stopping at Harvard Book Store and succumbing to bibliophilia. I got 3 used kid books, including a Cynthia Voigt I'd not read b efore, and a remaindered bread porn book: a DK (Dorling Kindersley) book, lots of pictures, methods, recipes. I even found a picture and recipe for the day of the dead bread... I had to buy it. Now I can try to make this for Cthulhia's party.
Home to check email, and ended up getting the Bugbear virus (I think), sent as an attachment from a usually safe address. No, I didn't open the attachment. It opened itself, started downloading, despite whatever I tried to do. I felt stupid, not having any anti-viru s programs on my machine (at work, I use a Mac, plus there's a firewall), not knowing where to go to deal with this. Frustrating. Got off the computer, curled into a ball, started to read, until I was able to face dealing with it. Stupid reaction, but couldn't face the stress of it. No idea why, either.
This morning before work, I dropped off lettuces and jams for Z, refueled the car, and got groceries.
License plates: why is it easy to see that WYSGUY = WiSeGUY, but I first thought TWNCAR was TWiNCAR, not ToWNCAR?
Not motivated to cook at all. Shabbat dinner will mostly be take out, and lunch at friends'. Hope I get inspired to make something for Queue and Hrafn's housewarming.
