For the last 5 years or so, I've gotten season subscriptions to the productions of the Brandeis theater department. I've seen some interesting plays, some plays I haven't cared for, some in-between. Overall, I'm usually impressed with the staging of the play, even if I don't care for the play itself.

I just got this year's tix (a 2nd year without a Shakespeare play. *Sigh*). If anyone is interested in going to one of these, the box office number is 781 736 3400... If you go on a Tuesday (the preview night), I can meet you there (um, unless I change nights for that play).

[I think each of these has a one-week run (they've been cutting back, both in number of plays and length of run... :-( ). The date I give is the Tuesday preview night.]

In the Blood, Sept 24
The Laramie Project, Oct 22
Love for Love, Nov 12
Animal Farm, Feb 11
[New play; something not yet written by a resident playwright], Mar 18
Agamemnon and His Daughters, Apr 1

There's a performance of Alice in Wonderland by the National Marionette Theatre sometime in the spring, but that's a separate deal. Haven't gone, no recommendations.

Also included in a subscription is a StageSource "circle of friends" card. This gives me a twofer at a bunch of theaters once a year. There's way too many to list, but includes a lot of the local smaller theaters (some of which I'd not heard of before), plus a couple in Worcester (Scholargipsy....?), north and south shores, out on the Cape, one in NH.

My mother told me to seize the next opportunity to see The Laramie Project. Maybe this is it?

(my mother has become what [livejournal.com profile] fj likes to call, "Miss PFLAG Ohio". She is more politically active than I am. Which is fortunate, since I live in MA, and she lives in Ohio, where it is more useful)

Would you be interested in going that Tuesday? The person I've usually been going with doesn't want to go...

(Technically, I can change the tix to another day, but Tuesday really is the best day for me.)

There is a tiny chance that I will be out of town on a job that day, but I think we should go for it.

Omigod, does this mean that I have to answer "yes" to the next meme that asks me if I have ever got a date over lj?

Now, just where is the theatre?

The theater is on the Brandeis campus, in Waltham. Would you be driving?

Depends. I'm either
(a) going to work late (for me), go to Brandeis for dinner and the play, then head home (Cambridge)
or
(b) having dinner at home, then to the play from there (or the Diesel), home after.

If you'd be willing to drop me off at home after, I'd go for option (b).

Date?

I suppose it depends on what is meant by "date" in that context. Two (or more?) people making arrangements to meet, or two (or more?) people planning to meet with romantic intent?

Oh, twist my arm. :) I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that the Worcester theatre is Foothills? They do good stuff, though too much crowd-pleasing fluff and too little challenging American repertory drama for my taste. Anyway, I am interested in details and flattered to have been thought of.

In "greater Worcester," they list Foothills, also Calliope Productions (haven't heard of that one; phone 508 869 6887).

I've only used this once or twice in all the years I've gotten them, but the general idea is that you call the theater, find out what their policy is for using this pass, then, I think, (borrow my pass) bring it with you when you get the tix, if they say they need to see it and/or cross off that theater from the pass (since it's once/year/pass).

The things I remember seeing in Worcester were more on the crowd-pleasing end of things, but were decent productions, at least (I saw Noises Off! for the first time at Foothills, and totally cracked up.).
