And in no particular order
Sep. 6th, 2002 08:57 amLast night I made it to potluck late; I was glad I'd brought a dessert-level food (a bag of yellow and red watermelon pieces, peeled but still full of seeds. Now I have no farm watermelon left.). I got to show off my third-world legs, see the tiniest toy radio cars (small enough that they have an external recharging platform), see the bicyclist for the first time in far too long, and talk with Cthulhia. I got to see the passport photo in person! And hear about the trip, etc.
Last night I finally paid bills (and wrote some other checks, too.)(I really need to make a bunch of these to be direct withdrawal.). I don't know why some times it's hard to make myself do this. I know I have enough funds in checking, so it's not a scrambling to cover, per se. It's something I need to work on (hey, a new year's resolution! on new year's eve, as it were!). Anyway, got a lot of bills paid... and realized I'm practically out of stamps. Couldn't find stamps last night, so I decided to resort to the Evil Stamp Machine in the parking garage at work. It thwarted me once before, so I didn't have high hopes, but it's convenient. So I managed to find uncrumpled-enough bills to start feeding into the machine, and noticed there was already money registered on the machine. No on e was around; no idea how long it had been that way. End result: $7.40 worth of stamps for $3. And all my bills in the mail.
The sun is getting lower in its pass across the sky. I am acutely aware of this, because it is now low enough that it shines directly in my face as I type on the computer. Time to get out the Ridiculous Clapping Hat, which has brim enough that I don't have to squinch into weird positions to avoid glare. (In the winter, I have a board blocking the window. But it's not tall enough for how high the sun is now, and in the spring. So annoying that they refuse to replace my holes-all-over style of blinds with solid ones. )
Apple of the day: Braeburn. Much better than the Pink Lady of yesterday, crunchier, decent flavor. Not quite up to snuff, but probabl y later in the season they'll be better. Worth getting again, I think.
Seen en route somewhere: MA plate KTDID 2. And I started wondering about the owner. Is the owner a birdlover? Birdwatcher? Named Katy/Katie/other permutations? If so, what did she did? Twice, too. Or is the other car KTDID 1? So much potential plot...
And spotted yesterday, VA plate JAZZZD.
Somehow with all the RH cooking this afternoon, it hasn't quite penetrated the brain that it's really RH tonight, ending 5762, beginning 5763. I haven't thought enough about my year, what I need to change (ok, the usual suspects abound: more exercise, less gossip, stuff like that), what went well, what didn't, who I need to ask forgiveness from. I am woefully underprepared. And there are two meals-worth of food to cook this afternoon, too. (And laundry. And wouldn't it be nice if I got a new outfit for the new year. Yeah, right. Maybe by Sukkot, if I'm lucky.)

Date: 2002-09-06 06:58 am (UTC)Also, the not-completely-opaque blinds are enough not-opaque that anyone who bothered to look would see the cardboard (from the office, not outside; I overlook an area with trees and a train track that is fenced off from anyone going there). N
