Pico reviews: Unreal Unjunked candy
Jan. 10th, 2013 07:09 pmSomeone at Artisan's Asylum had a box of Unreal Unjunked candy today (leftovers from some promotional event yesterday) and was offering them around. I tried three (in the interest of reporting here, of course, not for any desperate need for chocolate :-).
The not-Snickers, aka Unreal 8, in the purple wrapper: ok, but the texture of the caramel was a bit denser, and perhaps a thicker layer overall. I don't like thick, chewy caramel, so I'm not sure I'd go for this again.
The not-Milky Way, aka Unreal 5, in the red wrapper: pretty much the same issue with the caramel, and a bit too sweet overall, though less than the original.
The not-Reese's but still peanut butter cups, aka Unreal 77, in the yellow wrapper: after my initial surprise at how much less sweet this was than expected, I really liked this one. It's definitely peanut butter and chocolate, and much less sweet than the competitors, which I like a lot.
I didn't try the faux M&Ms or peanut M&Ms. Someone else report back?
PS. There were hechshers on the packages of individually-wrapped candy, but not the individuals themselves. 8 and 5 have the circle-K (dairy), while 77 had a different hechsher I'm blanking on, that noted it's not chalav yisroel. (Which lead to an interesting discussion with the person who was offering the candy.)
