Done Sunday
Oct. 3rd, 2012 06:09 pm[I could have sworn I posted this Sunday before candlelighting (these days around 6:15 P.M.), but apparently it is nowhere other than my head, so....]
Since 2 P.M.:
I'd thought I might make lots of other things over the course of the holiday (particularly latkes with Brussels sprouts and salami, for some reason), but I didn't do much, after all.
Since 2 P.M.:
- picked up a friend's farm share (since they were going to get a new puppy named Zim, the cutest invader ever)
- stopped at two supermarkets (since Trader Joe's doesn't have the long-lasting candles, though they do now have American Kosher (OU glatt) salami, which the employees all liked, though more than one assumed it was 'off-label' Hebrew National, though I tried to say something about the hechsherim)
- put up the sukkah
- started (and finished) a load of laundry
- roasted a tray of beets and red onions
- baked my first loaf of bread using the no-knead bread recipe
- baked a half turkey breast topped with lemon-lime chutney, over a bed of already-cooked rice, minced lime, cranberries, diced fresh pineapple, and some black pepper
- set up the hot plate and the electric burner (on a timer)
I'd thought I might make lots of other things over the course of the holiday (particularly latkes with Brussels sprouts and salami, for some reason), but I didn't do much, after all.
