I'm foolish: I didn't go to bed last night, mostly not-packing when I should be. I got it all done in the end, but it was harder than it should have been. The final count: four fixed-lid boxes, the tent, the tent poles, and an inflatable air pad (thinner than an air mattress, but having a cushioning layer of air to sleep on; I have high hopes for this). I have to get water, sports drinks (for electrolytes; necessary despite the horrible colors), some fresh produce, and paper towels in Reno, but otherwise, I feel pretty prepared, barring the things I'm bringing in my carry-on (hopefully, at least one more hat :-).
Also done this morning: three batches of vegetable liqueurs.
The up side to getting the packing done: I'm almost caught up on laundry! Also, I finally got my tent out of the kitchen; it feels spacious in comparison. Now to get the rest of the apartment into shape, before having houseguests. Also, note to self: it's difficult to fold the tent in the apartment: there's not enough room to lay it out flat.
I got to go to an aufruf yesterday, and I'm already seeing some wedding photos on FaceBook (including a kippah I made :-). I'm curious to hear about the details of their ceremony after taking a class on kiddushin and egalitarianism at NHC a week and a bit ago (which I still have to write up; soon, I hope). (Speaking of FB, it's always interesting to see the flurry of friending after events, partly due to being surprised at who hadn't been FB friends before.)
Apparently it takes over two weeks to get a postcard from Costa Rica; I hope someday I'll get to go myself.
I think there was more, but the sleep dep and the overcast weather gloominess have erased whatever it was from my mind. Oops.
eta, 2015 Improv dinner, now that I've accepted I'm going to skip a birthday gathering after all (boo): baked chicken thighs topped with olive oil and black pepper, over pale bell peppers, eggplant, fresh oregano, black pepper, diced lemon, diced pickled hot pepper, pattypan squash, and tomato (all veggies and oregano from the farm share; now to figure out how to make it to Wednesday's pickup with only a bunch of collards left). It's mostly a use-what's-around sort of dish; I hope it turns out well.
