In which I get a lobster
Jun. 1st, 2007 03:17 pmI went by the farmer's market today (still sparse; not all the farms are there yet), and there was a huge white tent in front of the church in Copley filled with people promoting Nova Scotia. There's live music (fiddling, while I was there), someone sewing canvas (I think it was canvas), some poor guy in what looked like a kilted version of a beefeater costume, genealogical services, a place to order kilts, and, of course, lots of promotional materials about the wonders of Nova Scotia. I've always wanted to go there, since my parents chose it as their honeymoon destination (biking touring around), so I picked up some information, including the ferry schedule (and maps! yay, maps!). There's not one yet from Boston (perhaps next year), but there are from fairly close by in Maine. Dunno whether I have enough vacation time, but it's good to have lots of ideas.
Oh, the lobster? Everyone going in the tent got a foam red and blue lobster on a wire to wave (URLs on each claw). If I take the wire out, I bet it would be great addition to the red baseball cap I got from the Swiss science consulate.
Random other stuff:
Save the planet, wear bamboo clothing?
Also, impressive chocolates for a cause. You even have a choice of causes :-)
Among the other information in the city newsletter, I learned that they got a tree grant they're going to use to put trees on Prospect St. Huzzah!
Excellent thunderstorm this morning. I'm glad I didn't miss it, though I also wish I could've slept later than 5-whatever this morning too. If only my bedroom had a boxed cat in it, I could've done both!
