  • New signs at many Cambridge intersections, telling people where to call if there are problems and the code for that intersection.*
  • Harvard's first solar panel on a streetlight.
  • Best decorated public tree: the big tree in the little park on JFK Street has strings of blue lights dancing through its branches along with white lights enclosed in some kind of bags, looking a bit like white glowing jellyfish.
  • On Mass Ave past Porter Square, bike lines. It must not be bike lanes, given that they've painted the bike symbol on the white line. Vowel confusion, perhaps?
  • Powerfrau, in her no-longer-native state. Huzzah for serendipitous meetings!

* I tried to find more about this on the Cambridge city site, but couldn't figure out where they put any announcement. I did find something that may be useful to Camberville locals this New Year's Eve: free cab rides. The safeRide program gives free cab rides for people leaving Cambridge alcohol licensed establishments and going to residential addresses, from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. There is a $35 cap on cab rides and customers must be at least 21 years old to use this service. The phone number will be 617 876 2000.
