Mystery solved: Last week I went to the gym and they gave me a towel (towel service is extra; I don't pay for it). I shrugged and chalked it up to end-of-year something, or someone using a pass I'd given them, something like that, a one-shot. It turns out that [$employer] has made some kind of new agreement with the gym, and it includes towel service. W00t!

Scharffen-Berger dark (70%) chocolate is much more floral than other dark chocolates I've had. Not what I'd expected.

I walked through the first flurries this morning, thinking about the inconceivability of very large numbers, and all the beautiful crystalline symmetries melting into oblivion.
There are weather advisories in effect, with fog and snow already here, and ice predicted. In other situations, I like icing...

Odd food of the week: sesame crepes, from Trader Joe's. I couldn't resist buying them, seeing something odd, certified by the British Columbia kashrut organization. They're slightly chewy, and very sesame, with an undertone of nuts. Not a surprise, since the ingredients are sesame seeds, sugar, peanuts, malt, and rice flour. It's not very sweet, which surprised me, given the order of ingredients. Somehow, calling it a crepe made me think there should be some way to use it as more then just a snack, or perhaps as a more involved snack than just ripping pieces off it (not unlike eating fruit leather, actually).

As just about everyone's already said already, The Incredibles is a lovely movie, excellently done. The animation, with all the details, was amazing. I even liked the credits (I think it's the first time I've seen a list of "Production Babies"... it was not a short list, either.). [As almost everyone has seen the movie, insert your favorite spoilers here.] It cracked me up to recognize a voice or two from The Princess Bride. And, yes, Mr. Incredible reminds me of Wildraven. The baddie looked like a character in some other movie, with that updo. I don't remember who, though. Did he ring a bell with anyone else?

The box includes
  • four bananas
  • a pint of grape tomatoes
  • a green pepper (going in to work tomorrow, unless anyone here wants it)
  • a smallish eggplant
  • five Fuji apples
  • two navel oranges
  • a big bunch of spinach
  • a biggish head of green leaf lettuce
  • two stalks of broccoli
  • two medium yellow onions

I'm not feeling nearly as inundated with fruit this time, hooray! On the other hand, though all the veggies are good (well, except for the green pepper), they're all fairly prosaic; I'm still hoping for mushrooms, or more sunchokes, or something with a tad more pizazz.
