In honor of those who have served, and those who are serving (whether I agree with the decisions of the commander-in-chief or not).

Veteran's Day is one of those holidays I've not had off since I was in school. So, as usual, I'm at work today, sitting in a corner conference room for the daily meeting, when I saw a lot of police motorcycles, and the street blocked off, over by the Public Garden. And then they started off, and I realized that I had a nice view of the parade as they rounded the corner. Mounted police, then someone else on a trotting horse, followed by units from different branches of the service (I assume), interspersed with many marching bands. One looked like it might've been a fife and drum corps, but I'm not sure. I'm always impressed to see the precision of a group marching in step, and most of the groups did. I wonder if the one that didn't was veterans rather than current troops? Not sure. There was a duck boat, and a baton twirler leading one of the bands (I could hear some of the percussion, very faintly, two blocks away and eleven stories up).

And then it was over, and the cars rushed to fill the temporary traffic vacuum.
