No marijuana here.

Yesterday, I was driving Worcester-ward, and realized I need to get out of the city more often: the foliage is gorgeous, yellows, oranges, and scarlets making the woods blaze. I thought I would have time for foliage shots later, but [CENSORED] went past late afternoon, so the light was gone. Maybe later today.

I took an exit I don't usually use off the Pike, and started thinking about how Worcester never quite manages to be a big city, despite all the pluses it has. I wonder how much of this is because, except right downtown, it's really a suburban city, very spread out, not really walkable. There is a bus system, but most people drive everywhere. Plus it's not really in the highway system: it takes intent to get there, or get out. I wonder how much the city would be different now if the Pike went through it, rather than around. Side thought: I don't know what principal products Worcester would be considered to have. There are eleven colleges and universities around; is it because Boston is so close that this doesn't seem to count?
