Life in the Fast Lane
Jan. 2nd, 2004 02:29 pmHe looked around the bar and sighed, wishing he weren't at the same bar, with the same guys, as he was every week, for... how many weeks now? It was all starting to blur in his mind. Nothing new, no one new, just the regular Ds and Cs of this working neighborhood. Every once in a while there were rumors of gangs of car batteries coming through to 'keep the peace', but he'd never actually seen that happen. Even that would seem exciting, anything to relieve the feeling that he was just cycling through his life.
And then the door opened. There she was, a gorgeous AAA. How had she ended up here? He couldn't figure it out, but wasn't going to let his chance go to waste. As soon as she found a seat, he sent a drink to her, hoping for a chance. Still, he was surprised when she asked him to join her. They started talking, and he couldn't help compliment her. "You know, you're terminally pretty." And that was it. She gave him the Look, the "you've just blown it" stare, told him there was no reason to get personal, and rolled out.
