Links, no sausage

From today's NYTimes, a story about a party on the subway... sounds like something Cthulhia would like to do on the T (though with less emphasis on alcohol, perhaps). And particularly for those who have recently read Winter's Tale, an article about new housing for many of the horses in the city. Two of the stables are being sold, so drivers of the carriages around Central Park banded together to buy a building to reconfigure into stables.

From CNN, a reason to wear shoes in the rain. Or perhaps it's just another Vegas thing.

Only a seven gloried morning today, down from a dozen yesterday.

Mutiny on the.... (week 11)

Bounty! A full box and a heavy bag this week, full of produce. I now have:

• four leeks
  
• a medium watermelon (it's a yellow watermelon!)
  
• a medium cantaloupe
  
• two green peppers
  
• a bunch of mustard greens
  
• a bunch of tat soi
  
• a pint of cherry tomatoes, mostly sungolds! (dance of tomato joy!)
  
• five pounds of mixed heirloom tomatoes, including 3 large yellow-gold ones, a smallish lemon-yellow one, one that might be a zebra tomato, and four medium large purplish red ones
  
• a cucumber
  
• two medium fennel (is the plural fennels or just fennel?)
  
• some stalks of basil
  
• a pound (aka 12) of carrots
  
• two eggplants, one a light purple Asian one (entertainingly twisted), the other a regular (black bell) eggplant
  
• a bag of garlic, aka 17 heads, of a variety of sizes

Mmmm... And the pick-your-own this week includes basil mix (different varieties, I believe), cherry tomatoes, dill, and flowers.

I miss the beets, though; I haven't gotten any this season at all.
