Yet again, I'm confused by church matters, Episcopal/Anglican this time. Why did it matter for entering the episcopate [1] that the man is gay, when apparently it didn't matter to become a priest? It seems like a strange sort of glass ceiling, rather than unfitness for the priestly job in general.
[1] I hadn't realized that episcopate was a word until I heard an interview with the new bishop. Does that mean that Episcopalians split off from wherever they split off from due to issues with bishops?
Somehow, the definition of raw foods makes me think that things like sashimi, raw eggs, caviar, and steak tartare would be acceptable. But apparently not; they are vegan. I don't think I could manage a raw foods diet; not only do I like far too many cooked/non-vegan things, but I also don't have the kitchen equipment for it, nor the patience (hours to soak/sprout things, etc).
There was yet-another-downpour around 4 am, so I got up and closed the French door to the porch. I discovered this morning that that was not quite the right thing to do: for the first time, the door has swelled so much in the humidity that I can't open it. I suppose I'll have to climb out a window to check on the plants if it doesn't dry out a bit soon.
I'm fascinated by the morning glories; they really are growing so fast I can almost see them move. I counted the number of squares (on the trellis netting) that one plant was above the railing Friday afternoon, and it's managed more than a square a day (and this with all the overcastness, yet). With their speed and twistiness, sometimes I wonder if there are little plant brains in there...
