Misc musings
Apr. 11th, 2003 09:20 amTo deal with the inability to make comments for the last day or so, I started using Netscape 7.02 at work (I'd been using an old old version, somewhere in the 4.somethings. Yeah, I'm lame.). This means that I can comment again, but everything looks a bit off, since all the fonts are just a bit different, not just in font, but in point size as well, in addition to the different look/feel of the interface. And while it's ok, it's still a tiny bit disconcerting, which is just another verification of how I can get locked into the usual. *sigh*.
Last night I ran into an acquaintance at Bread & Circus. We talked Pesach, especially about trying to get groceries. In the course of this, she mentioned that not only is quinoa kosher for Passover, which I knew, but so is wild rice, which I hadn't realized. It makes sense, since both are grasses ("wild rice" being a bit of a misnomer). Whole new vistas of Pesach foods open before me... First thought: a wild rice pilaf with slivered almonds and dried cherries (TJ's has them kosher for Passover year-round), perhaps with turkey.
I played some Boggle last night, for the first time in ages. I don't remember all the words I got that I liked (an 8-letter one in there, even, though not an especially exiting one, since it was a gerund), but "galore" and "jowly" stick in mind. Must play more Boggle before the tournament...
It's the first "late" Shabbat this week (ie Shabbat starting much later due to the clocks changing), so candle-lighting isn't until after 7 pm. I haven't started cooking, and might even get take-out so to have a whole long afternoon to do things in. It's likely to be raining, so a bike ride is improbable, but I could get started on some of the cleaning I need to get done (Or maybe even the taxes? Time is running out...). Of course, the down side of late Shabbatot is that Saturday night is a lot shorter, since Shabbat doesn't end until after 8.
