Friday (and Saturday) night Industrial Theatre put on a production they called The Nostalgicks (not knowing the show The Fantasticks, I don't know if they used anything other than the vague reference to the show). All I knew going in was that it was a free thing they'd made up.

I took a walk Thursday night that included passing this park. I knew it had been under construction, never noticed that it had been finished. It looked interesting, but I didn't have time to explore then, so I promised myself an excursion later. Shabbat afternoon seemed about right.

The Bobs

The Bobs sang at Somerville Theater Saturday night. I went with a mostly-LJ crew (*wave*), and of course ran into lots of other known faces, the most surprising of which was one I hadn't seen since college, now living in Brookline (!). I'm still kind of surprised I recognized him, actually. Just that afternoon having reread some old college journals he'd made an appearance in made it just that much more eerie.

I haven't been in the theater in a while. It needs work, but as a venue, it's pretty good; even from the balcony seats you can see the stage clearly.

The concert was a lot of fun, even if the sound was turned up too loud on the microphones. We heard a quartet of turtle songs, Fluffy's plan for world domination, some purple haze, and much else, along with lots of silly banter (fretless...). They are such impressive performers, doing things vocally I hadn't thought possible. On the down side, the second half of the show felt far too short :-(. Still, any Bobs is better than no Bobs at all :-).

Such a rainy day, but definitely spring, as evidenced by all the worms on the paths, escaping the flooding of their holes. And a worm death day ensued, since most worms got killed before they could make it back underground. I kept picturing a small Worm Death character, a la Death in Discworld, a tiny scythe harvesting each wormlife.

seder thoughts )

On the radio this morning, there was a plug for somewhere that offers "independent living apartments." I assume they put a hyphen between the first two words, which, in some lights, seems absurd: aren't all apartments like that, unless billed otherwise? I started wondering, however, what it would be like if there had been a hyphen between the last two words... I could just hear the apartment not letting me have too much junk food, or making me do the laundry before LJ surfing, or...
