I tried a new topping for baked salmon (based on what I had in the fridge): mustard mixed with maple syrup. It works.
[I also made the standard chicken-and-rice dish, but this time with raisins, a head-worth of garlic cloves, chopped dried apricot, and pistachios. Yum.]

I had fun at the story reading. It helped that I'd had a chance to set the room up as I wished (lighting and all), the place was reasonably clean, and apparently I'd bought enough snacks, since there were leftovers. Seven people read a variety of pieces in different genres (kid fiction, essay, sf, poetry, straight fiction), including two that were written by the readers, which was very cool. As usual, I heard things I might not have run into otherwise, which I like. At the end of the evening, I discovered that the one person there who I'd thought didn't have an LJ does, in fact, now have one. Everyone assimilate...

I read four new books this weekend, including the first graphic novel I've read in a while (Tantrum by Jules Feiffer). I also saw a so-so movie on TV (Assassins)(plot questions abounded...). [It was the first TV I've watched in ages. Have the ads always been this annoyingly bad?]

I suppose it shouldn't've surprised me how fast the weather changed. Sunday morning was beautifully warm, no need for a jacket. By the time I walked to the Square, the wind was rather chill, and I was glad I'd grabbed earband and gloves, regretting leaving my coat behind. By the time I was walking home, I noticed wrinkles of ice forming on some of the puddles...

Oh, and Sunday afternoon I finally got to hear Captain Najork and His Hired Sportsmen again! Years ago a friend had read it to me, and I'd never seen another copy. It's as wonderful as I remember it; I migh t have to get one myself :-).

[1310 addenda (see other brackets above): I also got the chance to ask a friend with medical training whether I should be just concerned or massively panicked about all the double vision and headache stuff. Happily, he told me that there are many non-serious things it could be, and it's unlikely to be a massive brain tumor or anything like that. It's a lot easier to wait for my appointment now... :-)]
