I had to get gas in the car before going anywhere this morning; it was just about empty. So I go to the local gas station in Inman Square, pull up at one of the pumps. One nozzle has a sign over it, but that's not the grade I want, so it's ok. I go up to pay first, as they want, and there are two guys in the booth, who ignore me. Oh, there's a sign: Closed for 5 minutes. Great. Prime commuting time, and that's when they have to count boxes of ciggies. But wait; I'll just use plastic at the pump. I go back, and figure out that the screen is busted. OK. I pull forward to the next pump, and try there. No dice; the card reader doesn't seem to notice I've put my card in. Good grief. Back up to the booth, where the guys are *still* counting things. Two other people are there, too. One woman tried to use the card reader, too, but figured out that while the guys in the booth are counting, they've turned off the card readers at the pumps, too. Brilliant. And of course, since it's been more than 5 minutes now, it's not worth moving the car elsewhere, since they're going to open any time now, right? OK, and I'm not sure how far I'd make it with that little gas. Eventually they open up the booth, and I get gas for the car. What should've been 5 minutes, tops, was more like 20. Grrr.

And then, of course, traffic is much heavier. I can deal with that, if people don't, oh, walk right in front of my car when the light is already green and has been for a while. Or don't decide to make that turn to end up just in front of me going much slower than I had been, despite the fact that there isn't anyone behind me. I think my favorite was the guy stopped in the left-turn-only lane who suddenly decided he needed to be two lanes over, the rest of traffic be damned.

Plus the by-now-regular attempts at avoiding car-eating potholes, which can be fun fun fun.

Side note: why does Brookline have a police officer directing traffic at the Beacon St./Washington Ave. intersection, when all he was doing was indicating what the traffic lights already indicated?

I am now the owner of a bottle of pomegranate syrup. Not at all sure why I bought it, actually, but it seemed like the thing to get.

So, does anyone have suggestions for what to do with it?
Pomegranate truffles already came to mind, but I'm not sure about that, sounds too strange, somehow. Possibly pomegranate chicken, maybe with walnuts?

Any other ideas?
