I've waffled all week (tired, and wary of Sunday's weather), but I've finally decided:

I'm having an open sukkah this Sunday, from 3 pm to 5 pm. Come see my sukkah (find out what a sukkah is...), have interesting conversations (boring ones hereby banned), eat snacks, and, of course, play games.

If you need information about how to get to my house, let me know before 6ish tonight, as I'll be going offline after that (until Sunday night). Or ask Queue, or Cthulhia, or Treacle_Well, or Pheromone, or Wolf, or ...

I was tired yesterday, and I think that needing to take one of those little purple anti-itch pills made me more tired, plus a bit dopey. It was really noticeable because I found myself unable even to make a list of what I needed to do before the holiday t onight. Usually I can manage that, even if all the stuff on the list doesn't end up getting done.

Got an email about this this morning. Not sure what he'll be reading. Apparently he's an alum of Brandeis. I'm debating whether I want to go or not (could fit it in before potluck, though...). Anyone?

There are four official meals for the first two days of Sukkot. I have guests for lunch tomorrow; otherwise it's one or two people. I, of course, can never estimate how much people will eat, so I made:

a bunch of challah/rolls
spicy eggplant
a tray of roasted potatoes, onions, and garlic
a tray of roasted carrots and onions
a tray of roasted eggplant and tomato
sauteed swiss chard with onion and mushroom
six artichokes
four halves of acorn squash baked with maple syrup
a barley salad with scallions, onion, and the (non-sun)dried tomatoes I made earlier this week
two chickens (in 0.125s) roasted with lime ginger dressing and onions
a chicken (again in 0.125s) marinated in apple cider vinegar and honey
a big turkey meatloaf

I have ingredients for a pretty nice green salad, also tomato salad. There's sorbet (and possibly bobke) for dessert. There's also the boatload of junkfood I got for the open sukkah I could raid for dessert... I think I can stop cooking now. (Sudden thought: how the hell do I fit this all in the fridge tonight?!)

Still to do: rig up the light on the timer for the sukkah. Put on the hot water urn. Set up lights in the rest of the house. Straighten. Set up the warming tray. Shower. Breathe.

This morning with the smell of the cooking squash and the light slightly less in the kitchen due to the sukkah on the porch, it finally felt like Sukkot is coming...
