Last night I went with Queue, Cthulhia, and Dannarra to see Da Vinci's Notebook at Club Passim. As last time, they were wonderful. Their CDs are good, but seeing them live is so much better. Their music is funny (and pretty much their own), they have great stage presence, banter, improv. We got to hear the Munchkin song, some song that morphed into Hava Nagilah and then the Marseillaise, Title of the Song , Ally McBeal, some of the beginning of Carmen San Diego in a variety of musical styles. We heard the only a cappella guitar and keyboards, too :-). I also got to see Cthulhia cracking up, and Queue laughing, and Dannarra enjoying a group she'd not heard of before :-). However, they did not sing Secret Asian Man, which I'd been hoping for. Perhaps next time...

Last night I also fixed a bracelet of mine, part of a campaign to fix/deal with just one thing around my apartment each week. I seem never to get anything done, because there's just an overwhelming amount of stuff to do, but hopefully just choosing one thing a week will get me started.

Poison ivy update: I called the doctor's office again, and they agreed I need to come in and be seen by someone - it's been going on too long, and is spreading. So I get to see the nurse again this afternoon. I so hope she will be able to do something that will deal with this (I woke up in the middle of the night scratching again. The itchiness is infernal.).

Well, mostly. The menu:

challah (this week's innovation is adding some crushed flaxseed, and the loaves came out really pretty... let's see how they taste, though), served initially with honey ('tis the season), but with za'atar and olive oil available as a dip
wine/grape juice
mushroom barley soup, with some leeks
roasted veggies: potatoes, carrots, sweet potato, and leeks
tomato chickpea salad with olives
green salad with tomatoes, multicolored peppers, basil
brussels sprouts
vegan chocolate cake and/or chocolate chocolate bread pudding (this last is the non-vegan part of the meal).

Still feels like I should have another veggie or something, but it's just not going to happen. I also made some arctic char with cranberry chutney for tomorrow lunch.

Poison ivy update: saw the nurse (running late, hence my running late), who still thinks it's poison ivy, but a stubborn case. I now have a prescription of hydroxyzine (I like how it has "xyz" in it) to take when getting itchy. The pills are rather pretty, small violet ones. Hope it works... Otherwise I call back next week and get to go to a dermatologist. Though if things don't feel better by after Yom Kippur, I may track down the stuff Pheromone found and try that.

Must finish cooking, straighten the house.... no way I'm making it to services in 40 min....

News Flash! Just got an email: the Cambridge-Somerville eruv is UP for the first time ever, Shabbat Shuvah, 5763! Woo-hoo!
