I can't believe it's Labor Day weekend and the summer's over.

And now it's September, time of Jewish holidays and beginning school years, not to mention apple picking. I usually try to go apple picking at least once a year, before Rosh Hashana. Since the weather didn't cooperate today, I'm hoping to go this week.... does anyone have suggestions for orchards I can get to after work with enough time to pick?

This weekend is Rosh Hashana. The Monday a week later is Yom Kippur, and the weekend following that begins Sukkot (the following weekend is the end of Sukkot). The Month of Jewish Holidays is about to start. I am always surprised at just how breathless it tends to leave me. Either I have to take a lot of time off work, or (as this year), I just say goodbye to weekend downtime as they are pretty much all eaten by Jewish Ritual Time.

I can hope that this year it won't be so bad, but I already know I have a busy month at work. I think I should take some vacation time in October....
