I spent the night at the office. Air conditioning won out, in the end...

I surprised the morning guard when I came downstairs, though - apparently the night guard hadn't mentioned I was there.

Not so surprisingly, there was no traffic on the way home, and I got to hear the Declaration of Independence read on "Morning Edition." I can't remember the last time I read/heard the whole thing, rather than just the beginning bits (used by Schoolhouse Rock). With the current flap over the Pledge, I noticed all the Deity references> There were a decent number, but considering the times, not as many as there could have been. The list of gripes seemed long, yet somehow not ordered, so felt a bit scattered in their focus, especially since some seemed vague (though some of that could be due to me listening to language more flowery than I usually encounter).

I'd probably have been able to think about it more if it weren't so meltingly hot (the picnic at MIT I'm going to has been moved to an air-conditioned apartment. I'm glad I'll be cooler, but kinda sad too: I enjoyed playing on the lawns at MIT last year. However, this, too will be good, though in a less green-grass-and-croquet sort of way.)

Fried brain = lack of coherent thoughts :-(
I hope everyone is staying cool and hydrated as much as possible today.
