I seem to be more-than-usually food focussed this week...
Last night I made flatbreads for potluck. One with za'atar and sumak, the other with lavender, rosemary, and sea salt. Both were happily consumed.
Tonight's menu for Shabbat:
challah (with za'atar and sumak in olive oil for dipping),
wine,
cantaloupe garnished with a bit of peach, sliced strawberries, grapes, lime juice, and mint leaves,
chicken pieces roasted with lemon zest and other herbs under the skin (thanks to
teddywolf for the last-minute consult),
carrots and onions roasted with rosemary,
rice mixed with kale, turnip greens, and radish greens that were sauteed with garlic and pine nuts (the rice cooked in the kale blanching water for more flavor),
a salad with green leaf lettuce, arugula, spinach, halved grape tomatoes, mango, and homemade croutons, in a spicy vinaigrette,
vegan chocolate cake.
oh, and tea and probably almonds and grapes for munching after, if conversation looks like it will continue and people will munch stuff.
And with that, I'll have just some of the lettuce, arugula, and spinach left from the week's veggie delivery... enough to eat in the next few days and be done by next Tuesday's infusion. I'm glad - last year I didn't always get through things/ give veggies to those who would like them (I gave the radishes to a cow orker who looked extremely happy as she bit into the first radish. So satisfying for me
