Dock Tattoo
Sep. 18th, 2014 03:46 pmA follow-up to last month's post: I've spent four more days working on the project, and it's been great; I feel like I'm getting a bit better with a paintbrush (though it's still physically challenging, in that my muscles keep reminding me they're there, from all the bending and squatting and such). There are some photos and a lot more information about the designs here (with a link to the Kickstarter campaign currently in progress, too). (For more visuals, Google image search results first four or five rows of results are this, too.)
Mostly I've been darkening lines; the general process is that each design is projected at night onto the dock, traced with chalk, sketched in in ink, then darkened and filled in or patterned from there. I've also done some stenciling for the Spain and Italy areas, plus yesterday I filled in a Taino frog that has made me super happy.
Also, I've walked to Logan from the dock, so I now know a pedestrian route the whole way there. I don't know why this pleases me so much, but it does.
