Farm share, week 6
Jul. 16th, 2014 06:16 pm- six pickling cucumbers
- a pound of new red-skinned potatoes (ish on weight, since the scale's apparently gone missing)
- a bunch of chard (only green there when I arrived)
- a bunch of scallions, cilantro, or radishes (the radishes ran out just as I got there, so it was scallions for me, tiny ones)
- three medium summer squash (I chose two yellow and one cousa)
- a head of garlic with a still-green neck on it
- two big handfuls of basil
- two heads of fennel
- two tomatoes (::happy tomato dance::)
- a bunch of white Ailsa Craig onions with greens (where a bunch = three)
Surprise of the week: no lettuce or other salad greens.
First thoughts: Israeli salad. Fennel cooked with onions and tomatoes (or look for actual fennel recipes). Pesto (failed to do that last week; oops.). Potato salad with scallions and hard-boiled eggs.
