Or, six things make a post.

Wikipedia tells me that pistachios are part of the Anacardiaceae family (which includes poison ivy, sumac, mango, and cashew; it suddenly becomes more obvious why some people I know have issues with mango skin), and contain urushiol. I'm sure it's in smaller quantities than poison ivy, but still, I'm surprised that pistachios aren't more of a food allergy than just being part of the tree-nut cluster.
As an aside, the shells can be used in a bunch of ways, and may even clear up mercury emissions.
Oh, and the best name for a nut ever is from the east coast of Australia: the red bopple nut. (I keep misreading that and thinking "It has no toes!")

Hulu, Firefly is many wonderful things, and a cult favorite even, but "Comedy: Cult" is just not right.

Some impressive photos of nude Olympians (technically, nothing problematic is shown, but probably NSFW). The only thing I find lacking in this set is because the sports chosen (by the photographer? some other way?) all tend towards longer, lean body types; there are no stocky weightlifters, for example. So subtly, it reinforces the current paradigm of what fitness must look like. Still, the images as they are are beautiful.

I ordered a flat of blueberries (12 pints), which arrive Wednesday. Current plans are for liqueur, eating out of hand, freezing for later, and possibly jam. If I do jam, I'll need pectin, and I have a lousy track record with commercial pectin. Luckily, some other kinds of fruit have lots of it. On my way home from Artisan's Asylum this evening, I picked some crab apples, which not only taste lovely (tart but well within regular apple range of tartness, and feeling like I'm cheating because it's so much earlier in the season than for apples), but are high in pectin, so I might try blueberry-crabapple jam.
Also, today's breakfast was a salad mostly from my porch, which was extremely pleasing, also yummy.

I had a dream during my Shabbat nap that included a four-player card game related to Tichu that had me thinking of a variant on the game when I woke up, using the dog not only as a lead, but also as a skip in the middle of play (but otherwise valueless, the trick going to whoever last played a card with value). Not sure if that would unbalance things too much, though.

In honor of yesterday's fast (Tisha B'Av, though this year it was on the tenth, since the ninth of Av was Shabbat), the text of the decree by Ferdinand and Isabella of the expulsion from Spain, and a contemporary Jewish response by Abrabanel (hat tip to Osewalrus).
