Leo Dillon
May. 30th, 2012 01:48 amSomething I missed by being offline for Shabbat and Shavuot, that I haven't seen reverberating around LJ/FB: Leo Dillon died on May 26. I have a book of Leo and Diane Dillon's art, and I was in awe, not only of their art, but their lives. They were an interracial couple at a time when that wasn't an easy thing. Not only that, they worked together: each painting was made by both of them. I can't really imagine a life so wholly bound up in a partner who was also my work collaborator on such creative pieces, but part of me wished for something like that myself, despite how I could also imagine it being too claustrophobic at times. Their creative process fascinated me and their finished pieces I found beautiful. I am saddened that their long and fruitful partnership has ended.
