productive evening
May. 8th, 2002 10:00 pmTonight I:
bought herbs and dirt for transplanting them (2 basil, 2 kinds of mint, lemon balm, some lavender; also a cherry tomato plant).
made an infant smile.
did a load of laundry.
bought groceries.
cooked: made a cake and truffle guts, also cooked artichokes, and now a veggie curry is simmering on the stove.
I didn't get to all the food I'd planned to make tonight, but everything I most wanted to do did get done, so I suppose all is good.

herb uses
Date: 2002-05-09 03:38 am (UTC)I, of course, am too lazy to do things like sachets; I use them in cooking. Well, the lavender, really - putting leaves of lemon balm in lemonade doesn't quite count as cooking... (fresh lemonade with a couple of twists of lime, some lemon balm, a couple of leaves of fresh mint... perfect on a hot summer afternoon!).
And the only way I've used the lavender is with rosemary, sea salt, and olive oil on a focaccia (sp?). This looks especially nice with the kind of lavender that has dentillated (I think that's the word I want) leaves. They're about the same size as the rosemary, just with interesting curves. Very pretty, in the few minutes before devouring
