[local eating] Farm share, week 18
Oct. 5th, 2011 06:07 pm- a pound and a half of red onions (not nearly enough for me!)
- two pounds of yellow-fleshed potatoes
- an acorn squash
- a purple kohlrabi (with greens) or half a pound of red radishes (I chose the former, not being so fond of radishes as kohlrabi)
- two pounds of peppers (I chose a mix of red and yellow)
- half a pound of tomatillos
- a bok choy (rather sad looking)
- a bunch of kale or collards (I chose collards over purple kale)
- a head of fennel
- a head of lettuce (I chose a red leaf variety)
- a bunch of oregano
First thoughts: freeze the peppers; and sauerkraut the bok choy with the fennel fronds (and a red onion?) and red cabbage from last week, plus some mustard seed; some kind of salsa or chutney for the tomatillos; bake the acorn squash; kohlrabi slaw.
I still have lots of lettuce from prior weeks; anyone need more salad in their life? (ugh; one > their, but better than one > lives)
