I finally went to the Chihuly exhibit at the MFA. As everyone else, I was amazed and impressed. And I could see why someone told me that some of his pieces made me think of my hats :-).

The lines were long, but I had crocheting to keep it from feeling like wasted time, and once I got into the exhibit, it was totally worth the wait. Wow. Glass jellyfish shapes wider than me. A full-sized boat filled with dozens of organic-looking colorful shapes, posed on a perfectly reflective black surface. A vase of clear and white flowers. A huge garden that had yet more intense color, almost the plant equivalent of tropical fish, some parts of it taller than my head. More underwater creatures, animals this time, installed on a clear ceiling, making me want to lie on the floor and look up to lose myself in color. The next room had huge... chandeliers? of mostly single-color glass, with different basic shapes for each. The last installation was tall thin violet rods stuck in long logs, which didn't grab me as much as the rest; maybe if it had been earlier, rather than the end.

Totally worth seeing; it's in Boston for another week (and Wednesdays after 4 it's donation only rather than $22. or there's passes from libraries, etc.).

I took a bunch of photos that I've posted to FB; I'd post a link to the public photo album here, except that on FB, it's my name, which I don't want linked to my LJ/DW handle.
