[local eating] Farm share, week 5
Jul. 6th, 2011 07:47 pm- a bunch of carrots with greens
- two pounds of mixed summer squash, zucchini, and cucumbers (I got mostly zukes, with some pickling cukes for salad entertainment)
- a bunch of scallions
- a bunch of dill (apparently there was cilantro earlier on, not that I would have wanted that)
- two huge heads of lettuce (one green leaf, one romaine)
- one head of radicchio
- a bunch of chard (I chose red over yellow)
I still have a small head of green cabbage, garlic scapes, and some dill from last week, as well as some new garlic, which, together with the carrots, sounds like another batch of sauerkraut. I already have a biggish batch, though, so perhaps not. The zucchini will likely be roasted, perhaps with some dill. And the chard will likely be sauteed, though whether with sesame-soy sauce, or preserved lemon, or feta and black pepper, I don't know.
Obviously, there will be green salad in my future (I'm pretty pleased that I managed to finish the lettuce from last week in two days), with the radicchio, cucumbers, possibly dill and scallions. Somehow this selection doesn't feel interesting enough without more add-ins, such as tomatoes, or poached chicken breast, or crisp apples. Must ponder.
