stupid driver of the day award
Apr. 29th, 2002 04:57 pmThis goes to a taxi driver out this afternoon on Mem Drive. He was the first car at the red light, in the right-hand lane. The light turns green, he does not go far (of course, this is a day when I'm running late), and I think he's trying to make a left to go over the river. Stupid, but not unknown, by any means. What elevated this beyond run-of-the-mill stupidity was that the guy really wanted to make a U-turn in the middle of traffic, at an intersection on Mem Drive (the one with River St.)... and did

Date: 2002-04-30 12:06 pm (UTC)I'm not really used to the "big fast chaotic" style of city driving. A friend from Boston was trying to convince me that Boston really wasn't that bad. We were on some significant street (I can't say which) where I personally witnessed the U-turn-from-right-lane trick, across 3 lanes of traffic. Silly me; I thought the turn signal indicated an impending lane change or, at worst, left turn from right lane. I was so wrong.
