Cross contamination
Dec. 28th, 2009 05:42 pmI got a last-minute invitation out to dinner on Shabbat. My host was waiting in the lobby to let me into the building.
Host: "Shabbat shalom!"
Me: "How about... chag sameach?"
Host: "But would already be isru chag!"
Me: "No, the Clauser Rav arrives at midnight, so the day lasts until midnight."
Host: "..."
Host: "And even were it the day after, it's still Boxing Day, making it a two-day yom tov!"
With apologies for lack of Jew-speak translation. Let me know if I should bother.
