The baby's still in NICU six days later, alas.

- wild rice, red lentils, red beans, chipotles in adobo, caramelized onions, broccoli, halved grape tomatoes, and feta
- sweet potatoes
- vanilla rice pudding: a mix of brown and white jasmine rices, eggs, brown sugar, triple-fold vanilla, cinnamon, a variety of nuts (pistachio, walnut, cashew, possibly more), chopped dried apricots and prunes
- clementines
- juice boxes (apple and grape)

NICUs (for parents who don't expect such things, that is) are no fun. I'm very sorry your friends are having to deal with the rollercoaster of the NICU.

The situation seems to be getting better; the baby was full term, and developed viral pneumonia when he was a day old (possibly something else as well). He's being weaned off the heavy drugs, isn't intubated any more, is starting to nurse again, etc. The parents seemed to be doing pretty well, all things considered.

And while they might end up being friends, I hadn't met them before last night. They're the sister and brother-in-law of a friend of my cousin and aunt (who are in DC and Akron, respectively), who put me in touch with the person coordinating meals. The world moves in such odd ways sometimes :-)
