Optometrist exam
Dec. 31st, 2007 09:59 amI got my eyes checked Friday (yeah, it's that time of year again, the using up of any monies left in the FSA), and the new prescription is noticeably better than the current glasses (I guess this proves I'm hitting middle age?): 0.25 diopter in the right eye, 0.5 diopter in the left, putting me at -8.5 on the right, -8.25 on the left. Last year I didn't get new glasses; this year I will. (Um, today. See previous parenthetical note.)
Other numbers:
Right eye is -8.5 diopters = "sphere", -0.75 cylinder, and 160 axis.
Left eye is -8.25 diopters ="sphere", -0.50 cylinder, and 065 axis.
There was the puff test again (yeah, I know it's not the best test out there), and it was 16 in one eye, 17 in the other (right then left? not sure), which is low enough that I'm not concerned about a more accurate test. And the peripheral vision test again, which apparently last year wasn't quite where it should have been for the right eye, but the retest showed it's fine. This year I got my eyes dilated (I never did manage to go back after the fact and do it last year, so I figured I'd just get it over with, not realizing that the time it takes for the dilating drops to take effect is at least 15 minutes, which made things rather tight for finishing Shabbat prep when I finally got home), and everything looks fine. Those lights are darned bright when they're looking around. Ouch.
So, today's challenge is to acquire frames that look decent on me without being able to see myself in the mirror. Yay?

Date: 2007-12-31 03:26 pm (UTC)Ick. Hate drops. I think this doctor doesn't use the puff of air (or at least, she didn't last time I went there), but some little blue light thing instead, phew. I hate the puff of air more than I hate eye drops.
Good luck with the frames. I tend to try to bring others along when I'm frame shopping.

Date: 2007-12-31 10:48 pm (UTC)And I'd definitely rather do the bright lights than have some weird eye thing sneak up on me undetected.
