Weekend highlights (short form)
Nov. 26th, 2006 09:56 pmIn no order.
Current location: Portland, OR
- Trike ride! Up steep hills! Through rain! With excellent views! I had a lot of road crud on me by the end, but it felt great to get rolling. Not nearly as zippy as the old men I saw riding up and down, but satisfying for me.
- A long walk through the same hills, appreciating the views of Portland and Mount Hood, plus the architecture (amazingly cantilevered houses, modern stained glass, interesting outdoor art, the swimming pool that was a basketball court, etc). Also, the smell of wood-burning stoves made me nostalgic. Plus people are much more friendly on the roads.
- Sewing a skirt. Well, serging, mostly, and there was help with the elastic, but I measured and cut and have a lovely two-toned blue skirt to wear. Yay!
- Time hanging out with the denizens of the house.
- A large Shabbat dinner (I got to contribute salad, and finally tasted some of the family-made grape juice slush, plus there were lots of new people to try to keep straight :-), followed by a second, larger, Shabbat dinner (OK, I didn't eat at the second one, but I got to join lots of singing: their minhag is 10 songs between kiddush and motzi.).
- Lots of pumpkin pie.
- An invitation to lunch later this week.
- The wonderful vacation feeling of having a different schedule, not having the normal routine starting up tomorrow.
