There's a book sale at work today, and I got sucked into a frenzy of book-buying (of course). They had lots of Tolkien stuff, including The Atlas of Middle Earth, and I assumed someone who reads this is likely a Tolkien fan, so I got an extra copy. Anyone want it?

I'm tempted, but I think I will pass for someone who is more of a Tolkien fan than I am.

OK, though if you'd really like one after all, I can go see if they still have some.

If you do go back, there are other books I'm interested in, like the latest Best American Science & Nature Writing. But the Tolkien I could pass on.

I do appreciate the offer, though.

I don't know that they've got the 2006 Best American stuff. I think I saw the 2005, but it sounds like you've already got that. If not, I can see whether there are any of those left.

Yeah, I have a copy of the 2005. The new one is the one edited by Brian Greene. But don't go back on my account just to look for the 2006; I can always get it elsewhere.

I just checked (the book sale is for tzedakah, so I figured it was still worth going back to be sure), and alas, no 2006s.

Speaking of this series, I saw Best American Comics 2006 in Wellesley Booksmith the other day. A quick flip showed a chapter from a graphic novel that I own, plus some stuff from artists whose work I recognized.

Cool! Does that mean that it's something you want to get, because they obviously have good taste, or something you don't want to get, because you've already got some of what's there?

Neither. If I'm going to be getting comics, I'd prefer to get a graphic novel than an anthology.

I want it. But maybe you have readers who are bigger Tolkien fans. (It's on my Amazon wishlist, one that I don't make public because it's stuff I need to complete sets or have read but want my own copy, so it's not like I need it urgently.)

I don't feel a need to find a Tolkien fandom ruler; it's yours. Now to figure out when to get it to you.

Well, I need to get stuff to you, but this week isn't working out. Grr. Arrgh.

I've sent you email about the logistics.
