It's just me for first (Shabbat) dinner and second (Sunday) lunch, so it'll be whatever appeals. I haven't managed my time nearly as well as I'd've liked, so meals are a bit simpler than I'd hoped.

Shabbat lunch
  • wine, challah, honey
  • hummus, za'atar, olives
  • a big green salad with red leaf lettuce, mesclun, arugula, tatsoi (or pac choi, or whatever it is), mizuna, chicken cooked in eggplant garlic spread, possibly mango, almonds or pine nuts, balsamic vinaigrette
  • brown rice mixture
  • sauteed eggplant, red pepper, jalapeno, onion, zucchini, and mushroom
  • chocolate cake*
  • homemade applesauce
  • tea, other hot drinks

Second night dinner
  • wine, challah, honey
  • hummus, za'atar, olives
  • vegetable soup with onion, garlic, sweet potato, many hues of carrots, turnip greens, collards, red kale, and some hot sauce. Meat and/or grain/beans may be added.
  • turkey meatloaf (with roasted eggplant, onion, red pepper, fennel, and a little tomato)
  • brown rice mixture (if I don't make spicy noodles)
  • roasted cauliflower and zucchini
  • chocolate cake*
  • homemade applesauce
  • tea, other hot drinks

I didn't make cranberry relish; a last-minute 3:30 meeting put the kibosh on that. And I didn't do the winter squash on puff pastry thing, either (leaving me lots and lots of winter squash (though I have made my way through the eggplant abundance, at least)). I may still make steamed edamame for dinner.

Also, a reminder to myself that I have to get the disposal fixed or replaced after yom tov.

Chag sameach to those celebrating. Happy weekend everyone.
Yay for the eruv being up. Boo for needing the 18 minutes.

* This morning's lesson in cooking while tired: I got partway through and ran out of white flour, then realized I also didn't have enough cocoa. I made substitutions (brown sugar, chopping up a 70% cocoa bar (thanks, Electrictruffle!), but they're likely not the best cakes I've ever made. *sigh*

Thank you again for lunch! It was delicious, and it was wonderful to both be in a sukkah and to see you.
Reminder of something we talked about: http://pics.livejournal.com/dancingdeer/gallery/00004cc3?.view=grid These would be my photos from the Cape, and from the Edward Gorey House. I *think* I have these limited to friends only.

Thanks for the link; they're nice photos. I wish I'd brought a camera with me...

Of note: the chocolate cakes came out fine. I didn't make spicy noodles, but I did make the edamame (slightly undercooked) and a green salad (same mix of greens, slivered almonds, pine nuts, maple-mustard dressing) for second night.
